Overview

Juliette Sakran is a lawyer who is called to the Bar in Ontario. Juliette has a degree with distinction in Biomedical Sciences. She practices intellectual property law and has experience in a broad spectrum of practice including patent, trademark, industrial design, and copyright law. Juliette draws from her experience working at IP boutiques in Toronto in the IP litigation sector, and the IP group of one of Canada’s largest banks.

As an intellectual property lawyer, Juliette provides a solutions-based approach while working with clients and she formulates IP strategies that best fits their individual models and needs.

Patents

Juliette advises on and prosecutes patent applications and assists with patent litigation matters. Juliette has experience advising on patentability, drafting patents, and conducting relevant due diligence patent searches.

Trademarks

Juliette advises on and prosecutes trademark applications. Juliette has experience working with clients in securing trademark protection for goods and services, protecting the goodwill of important brands and marks, and assisting with enforcement of those marks. Juliette has experience advising clients on trademark law fundamentals in a manner that makes sense for clients.

Copyright

Juliette advises on copyright matters, including protection, registration, and enforcement issues. Juliette has experience advising clients on copyright law basics and best practices to use in an organization to avoid issues such as infringement.

Legal Education

Juliette obtained her law degree (JD) from the University of Windsor. During the course of obtaining her law degree, Juliette was awarded the Bereskin and Parr Prize for having the highest standing in intellectual property courses. During law school, Juliette also practiced advocating for clients with Community Legal Aid. Juliette also volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada.

Juliette completed her articles at an IP boutique in Toronto where she assisted with diverse matters pertaining to patents, trademarks, natural health products, privacy, corporate and technology law.

Industry Experience

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Juliette obtained a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biomedical Science and successfully defended an Honours thesis regarding the impact of aquatic water environments on genetic expression of important proteins and biomarkers in a model organism.
