Yasaman Baharmast

Overview

Yasaman Baharmast is a registered Canadian trademark agent and a licensed paralegal in the province of Ontario. She has been working at Heer Law since 2016 and has over ten years of experience working in intellectual property law.

Trademark Prosecution

As a trademark agent, Yasaman specializes in trademark registration, protection, and prosecution and supports clients in the enforcement of trademark rights. She works with a wide range of domestic and international clientele, furnishing them with practical advice and customized strategies to adeptly navigate Canada's intellectual property laws relating to trademarks.

Yasaman conducts trademark clearance searches and registrability opinions. She also provides opinions on how to overcome any objections and responds to trademark office actions.

She is an active member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC).

Patent Prosecution Support

Yasaman assists in all Canadian, U.S., and PCT patent prosecution matters. Yasaman prepares filing documents associated with patent and design applications, coordinates required documents for filing with intellectual property offices, enters, and monitors deadlines.

IP Litigation Support

Yasaman supports Heer Law's intellectual property litigation practice. She drafts all forms of court documents, assists in litigation coordination and conducts in-depth legal research for intellectual property matters.

Legal Education and Past Employment

Yasaman is a graduate of George Brown College's paralegal studies program. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English translation from Tehran University.

Prior to moving to Canada, Yasaman worked at Raysan Patent and Trademark Agents for over five years, focusing mainly on trademark prosecution, IP clearance searches and assisting with copyright and trademark disputes. While in Iran, Yasaman contributed case summary reports to the Raysan blog and the International Trademark Association (INTA) Bulletin. Prior to joining Heer Law, she worked as a veterinary technician supporting veterinary practices in Toronto. Yasaman is fluent in Farsi.
