The Heer Law Entrepreneurship Scholarship

The Heer Law Entrepreneurship Scholarship was created to help. Applicants are invited to submit, in confidence, a business plan for a current or prospective business, together with the information described in the scholarship criteria below. Because Heer Law is an intellectual property law firm, the business plan must include a section outlining the business's intellectual property strategy.

So, we've set up a scholarship to help. To apply for the scholarship please send us, in confidence, a copy of the business plan for your current or prospective business, together with the details outlined in the scholarship criteria below. Since we are an intellectual property law firm, your business plan must include a section outlining your business's intellectual property strategy for our consideration.

2027 Heer Law Entrepreneurship Scholarship Criteria

In order to be eligible for the $2,000 CAD scholarship, applicants must:

1. Be currently attending a university or college, or be scheduled to attend during the 2026–2027 academic year;
2. Be in good standing with their current or prospective institution;
3. Apply by email and provide their name, address, university or college, program or major, and expected graduation month and year;
4. Submit a business plan for their current or prospective business, including a section outlining its intellectual property strategy, by December 31, 2026.

Applications will be judged on the strength of the business idea and the cogency of the business plan and intellectual property strategy. The 2027 scholarship recipient will be selected by January 31, 2027.

Scholarship applications and business plans will be treated as confidential and used for the purposes of evaluating and administering the scholarship. Submission of a scholarship application does not create a solicitor-client relationship with Heer Law.
