Overview

Tamsin Thomas is an associate lawyer whose practice includes patents, trademarks, industrial designs, intellectual property strategy and portfolio management.

Education

Prior to receiving her JD from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, Tamsin earned her BSc in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Laurentian University, followed by a PhD from the University of Western Ontario. Her graduate studies focused on examining gap junction mutations associated with hearing loss and skin disease.

Qualifications

Tamsin was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2011, and has been a registered Trademark Agent since 2014 and a registered Patent Agent since 2025.

Experience

With over fifteen years of experience, Tamsin has assisted clients with Canadian trademark, patent and industrial design prosecution, trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings. She also works with foreign agents to assist clients with the acquisition and maintenance of patent, trademark and industrial design rights.

Tamsin manages intellectual property portfolios for clients in Canada and has also filed hundreds of trademark, industrial design and PCT national phase entry requests for clients in the US and Europe.

Tamsin has assisted clients in a variety of industries including food and beverages, clothing, mechanical devices, information technology and telecommunications, computer communication systems, topical skin preparations, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cancer treatment and scientific laboratory equipment.

Outside of work, Tamsin enjoys gardening, spending time outdoors with family, and training her dogs.
